Tundra Buggy - AKA Polar Bear Day!
After an early rise (7 a.m. breakfast!) we were off to start a day of exploring the northern wilderness on our private Tundra Buggy tour.
First stop is 1st Tower at Gordon Point. Originally used by the military during the Cold War to test clothing, machinery, weaponry and the troops themselves, after over sixty years it collapsed at noon on October 18, 2016 (yesterday) due to high winds.
Polar bear, everywhere; near and far, HERE THEY ARE!
While watching one bear's movements, he became just as curious as we were and approached the buggy for a closer inspection of us! Definitely a highlight of the day.
Our awesome Tundra Buggy Guide Kevin warms us up with some hot chocolate!
And the weather cooperated with us! A great day to be out on the buggy observation deck with friends!
An amazing experience, a ton of learning, a great day - but of all the Pipers.....
...Mr. Steeves was the most confused!
Very soon we will leave the research centre in Churchill and once again be off the grid as we continue our adventure home. We are very proud of our young Pipers who demonstrated excellent school spirit and represented us well! See everyone soon. ;)
