The John Taylor Family of schools is working to ensure that all students see the importance of building a strong community. Student leaders organized a Rock Paper Scissor contest for our feeder schools with all food donations going towards our Christmas Hamper Drive. JT foods and Nutrition teachers and students organized and assisted with our Annual Seniors Dinner for residents of Hamilton House (and other Seniors) on December 7th, JT peer tutors helping students in math, our student council and band, choir and dance students presented to Hedges students about the programs at John Taylor ( looking for the Grads of 2021), Grade 12 students are leading the charge for our annual Gym Blast, food hamper drive and the list goes on. Thanks to all those Pipers who take a leadership role in your school and community. The last few days before the holidays will be business as usual. All teachers have important curricular activities planned the last week of December. We always find time to celebrate the holidays and have some fun which we do a bit at a time during the last week of school but we expect all students in classes on December 22nd and in the gym on the afternoon of the 22nd. Congratulations to the vast majority of students who performed well on their first term reports. When signing reports cards our administration has noticed that there were many positive comments about great student efforts and responsibility. Well done students. Your efforts are appreciated by your teachers, parents and school administration. Those students who had a slow start in the first term have met with their teachers and administration to set some goals for the remainder of the term. We hope that students will improve their progress prior to our assessment week which takes place from January 27 –Feb 2, 2016 Below- JT students have filled room 109 with dry goods and non-perishable food items. We have more than enough to make 14 or more hampers. Gym blast teams have raised close to $ 500 in our Silver Wars which wraps up Dec 20. All proceeds to help purches gifts and toys for our hampers A big thanks to the Crestview United Church. During 2016, congregation members have donated $981.50 to our Breakfast Program and on an annual basis the Crestview United Church has provided breakfast for our students during our busiest January exam setting.
